Burlington, Vt.–Grade 4-8 students will have a chance to create their own customizable quiz game through a free online course, offered on consecutive Wednesdays from February 5 through March 5.
In this introduction to coding, participants will learn how to use the Scratch coding platform and foundational coding concepts to choose the theme, characters, questions and animations to build their quiz game. By the end of the five-week course, they will have a fun, interactive game to play with family and friends.
Preregistration is required to receive the course link. Registrations will be accepted until February 3 at https://go.uvm.edu/0h7ei.
The classes will be taught by University of Vermont (UVM) Computer Science Professor Lisa Dion. Each session will run from 4 to 5 p.m. Sessions will be recorded and available after the live session for registered participants.
The course, which is sponsored by UVM Extension 4-H, is part of the 4-H World Changers Learn to Code series, designed to introduce middle and high school students to coding.
