Hello 8th-grade parents and guardians,
The transition of your child to BHS has begun! Last week BHS counselors came to Hunt Middle School and talked with all of our 8th graders. The kids were interested in the presentation and excited about moving on to 9th grade. Here is a link to the presentation the students were shown. Hopefully, you were able to attend the parent night. If not, I believe BHS will have the presentation posted on their website.
During the week of 2/12, I will be helping students register for classes. This is done online through PowerSchool. Here is the process:
- There will be a few choices for freshmen, but most classes are requirements (e.g. English Humanities and Humanities Civics)
- Students have discussions with their teachers regarding courses that involve student choice (e.g. math and world language), and teachers put those recommendations into PowerSchool
- Students who need EL or special education services will be automatically registered for those classes
I will have your student fill out a course request sheet that they can bring home to show you what they registered for. If you have questions or concerns about those choices, I’m happy to review them with you. Please note, actual schedules for students will not be finalized until the fall.
