Resources for Teachers of ELLs in Grades 6-8
Resources for Grades 9-12 | Resources for Grades K-5

There are close to 100 English language learners receiving direct ESOL services in grades 6-8 in the Burlington Schools. Mark Nigolian and Jill Jacobelli serve students at Edmunds Middle School and Nancy Nadel and Ervina Kuckovic work with students at Hunt Middle School.

English learners have only 1 to 2 classes with ESOL teachers each day which means that much of the students' day is spent in mainstream classes. Teachers are obligated to adapt and accommodate classwork so ELLs can access the grade level curriculum in a meaningful way. How content is accommodated depends on the subject area, the teacher, and the students. Not all English language learners are the same!

Below you will find a collection of resources designed to help teachers teach ELLs in mainstream classrooms. Please check this site often as it will be updated on a continuing basis.
