Grant Summary

The QUEST Institute

The QUEST Institute was part of QUEST, a grant funded professional development program. While the grant has ended, training for teachers in teaching English learners in mainstream classrooms continues in the district and the region. Please contact Linda Walsleben for information on training programs for teachers.

History of the QUEST Institute

The QUEST Institute provided training for teachers and staff in principles and strategies for teaching English language learners in our schools. Institute sessions focus on the cultural backgrounds of students and their families, the challenges of learning English, instructional strategies teachers can use in their classrooms, and issues of involving families of ELLs in our schools.

The QUEST Institute was part of the QUEST grant program, a federally funded professional development project of the Burlington School District from 2002-2007. It was offered as a graduate course through St. Michael's College, College of St. Joseph, and University of Vermont during the course of the grant.
