Resources for Teachers of English Language Learners in Grades K-5
Resources for Grades 9-12 | Resources for Grades 6-8
There are approximately 300 English language learners in the elementary schools in Burlington. They are served by the following ESOL teachers:
Flynn ES: Heidi Brown, Rebekah Thomas
Smith ES: Amy Limoge, Amy O'Shea
Wheeler ES: Lynda Siegel, Beth Evans
Barnes ES: Mary Kay O'Brien, Christine Howley
Edmunds ES: Kristen Bingel
Champlain ES: Chaska Richardson, Amy O'Shea
While ESOL teachers provide as much service and support to students as possible, English language learners spend most of their school day in regular classrooms. Teachers are obligated to adapt and accommodate classwork so ELLs can access the grade level curriculum in a meaningful way. How content is accommodated depends on the subject area, the teacher, and the students. Not all English language learners are the same!
Below you will find a collection of resources designed to help teachers teach ELLs in mainstream classrooms. Please check this site often as it will be updated on a continuing basis.
